A gentle meandering climb up the Bryn with a superb panorama of the Black Mountains. Initially go back along the road to cross the Talybont dam and follow part of the Henry Vaughan trail, before crossing the Caerfanell river and climbing through beech woods and fields around the base of the Bryn. Then out onto open moorland to the summit with its great view and a majestic Beacons backdrop. Back through woods, a lane and fields to complete the circuit.
DIRECTIONS TO START
Take A40 towards Brecon, through Bwlch and turn left to Talybont and right into village. Take first left over canal and follow this road up to the reservoir. The lay-by is 0.5 mile past the dam on your left.
