The Unicorn Singers under their conductor, Stephen Marshall, have put together an exciting programme inspired by Henry Vaughan’s love of nature.
Stephen writes:
A must for all nature lovers, this event celebrates the poet Henry Vaughan: the Brecon Beacons' very own Wordsworth! This self-styled “Swan of the Usk", whose remarkable poetry extols nature as a means to understanding the human spirit, was educated locally in Llangattock and lived all his life in Llansantffraed.
The choir will highlight his legacy and the scenic wonders of the area, with well-known settings of Vaughan's verse by Elgar, Holst and Parry. The varied programme will also feature stunning pieces in praise of creation itself by composers old and new, from Tallis and Purcell to Sir John Tavener and Ola Gjeilo. There is also music in praise of the good things in life which should quite literally strike a chord with all listeners!
Please note that the layby closest to the church is for reserved parking only. Phone 01874 676640 to reserve a place. Other parking is available in the laybys on either side of the A40 near the church. Please remember to bring a torch, and cross the road with great care.
There are no toilet facilities for this concert.
All proceeds to Llansantffraed Church.
