Guidance, Terms & Conditions
Before you book
Please read carefully the description of each walk and its grade (number of boots) to ensure you are fit enough to participate.
The walks during the Festival are likely to take place in winter conditions. The terrain, altitude, weather and ground conditions will all affect the grade of a walk. Walk grading is highly subjective and some of these elements are out of our control. As we cannot factor in your personal fitness, ability or experience the walk grades should be taken as a guide only.
Taking part in a walk for which you do not have the required level of fitness and stamina puts you and the whole group at risk.
You can see how we grade the walks by reading our Grading Guide.
Note timings and the route taken may vary, depending on weather or other conditions and the overall speed of the group.
Participating in Walks
As most of our walks take place on open mountain and moorland, appropriate clothing is required at all times. This includes:-
Walking Boots (not trainers)
Hat
Gloves
Warm clothing
Spare warm clothing eg a jacket or fleece
Waterproof jacket and trousers
Note: Jeans are NOT acceptable, as they act as a refrigerator when wet and can cause hypothermia.
You should have a rucksack to carry spare clothing, your food and drink and personal items.
You should ensure that you have food and drink (preferably a hot drink) appropriate for the length of the walk. (Stops at a pub/café etc are not included, unless otherwise stated.)
The Start Time given is that at which the walk will start, or in the case of linear walks where a bus is provided to take you to the start, the time you should be at the designated meeting point to catch the bus. You should be changed and ready to go at the Start Time, it is unfair on the rest of the group to wait for you, if you are late.
Dogs are allowed on some walks but must be on a short lead at all times (this is a legal requirement under the CROW Act). Check the walk description before you bring your dog.
Children under 18 years old must be accompanied by an adult.
Most of our walks are on unmade paths and therefore are unsuitable for wheelchairs. Where we believe a walk to be wheelchair friendly we will state it in the description.
Please inform the Walk Leader if you have any pre-existing medical condition of which he/she should be aware and for which you may be carrying medication (eg diabetes).
The Walk Leader and the Assistant Leader are responsible for the safety of the whole group. You are expected to stay with the group. If you wish to leave the group please inform the Walk Leader who will make it clear that you are responsible for your own safety from that point.
Walk Leaders have the right to reject any person they believe to be inadequately prepared for the walk.
Walk Leaders are responsible for the safety of the group and their instructions must be followed.
Booking Walks
Walks must be booked and paid for in advance and we ask for the names of ALL walkers in your group for safety reasons.
We cannot accept people that turn up on the day of the walk.
We will also ask for an emergency phone number so that someone can be contacted if anything happens to you or one of your group.
Payment is by PayPal. You do not need to have a PayPal account to pay, you may use your normal debit/credit card.
You will receive a confirmation email from the website when your payment has been made, including details of the walk(s) you have booked.

We will refund walks cancelled up to two weeks before the start of the festival, less £1 per walk booking fee. After that we are unable to make refunds.
We cannot refund payments for walks cancelled during the Festival because of bad weather. We will try and substitute another walk or amend the route and if the cancelled walk included a bus transfer, we will refund the bus cost.
If the festival as a whole is cancelled for reasons beyond our control (such as Government Regulations) we will refund you less £1 per walk booking fee.
