The Clydach Gorge is full of archaeological treasures, delightful woods and hidden gems. It is also the scene of major road works, which are going to transform the gorge, probably for the better. This scenic walk climbs to both sides of the valley, giving wonderful views of the gorge and of the Black Mountains. Climbing is done at a steady pace on good paths and tracks. We will visit the old Clydach Ironworks and the beautiful viaduct nearby.
DIRECTIONS TO START
From CRiC take the A40 towards Brecon and at the Shell petrol station turn left and cross the river bridge turning left again. Follow this road A4077 to Gilwern. As you enter the village take the first right up Church Road just before the Corn Exchange pub on your left. Just before the canal bridge turn right to car park.
