Starting from Tafarn-y-Garreg we walk north along a quiet road before ascending Cefn Cul and descend to cross the A4067. Then we ascend Fan Gyhirych (2378 ft) and Fan Fraith. Descending south we walk through an area of former limestone quarries, shake holes and caves. We return beside Craig-y-nos Country Park and back for refreshments at Tafarn-y-Garreg. Some road walking and tracks but mainly pathless tufty terrain.
DIRECTIONS TO START
Allow 1 hour from CRiC. Take the A40 to Brecon but bypass the town by staying on the A40 in direction of Sennybridge. As you enter Sennybridge turn left onto the A4067 signposted Swansea and Dan yr Ogof. Tafarn y Garreg pub is about 10 miles further, on your left. Park in the old road, a sharp turn back by the pub.
