From Gospel Pass we ascend Twmpa on a well engineered path then descend gradually the Nant Bwch valley passing waterfalls to Capel-y-ffin with its former monastery and charming little church. Then we have a stiff ascent to the ridge and Offa's Dyke path which we follow to Hay Bluff before descending to Gospel Pass.
DIRECTIONS TO START
Allow 1+ hour from CRiC. From the front of CRiC, take A40 to Abergavenny. Continue on A40 through town to T- junction with traffic-lights, (at Esso garage just past Morrisons). Turn left (Hereford Road) and after 2 miles at another T- junction, turn left onto A465. After 1.8 miles, turn left into Llanvihangel Crucorney. Pass the Skirrid Inn and turn immediately left.At foot of hill, bear left for Llanthony and follow road for 6 miles past Llanthony Priory and for 4 miles through Capel-y-ffin, then 2.5 miles to the top of the hill. The car park is on your left, just before the crest of the hill.
