A strenuous high level walk which takes in four peaks in the Central Beacons. A steep climb from the Upper Waterfalls Car Park takes us to a ridge which we follow to Fan y Big and its iconic diving board. Then we head down to the Gap Road before climbing Cribyn followed by Pen y Fan, the highest peak in Southern Britain. A short hop over Corn Du is followed by another ridge walk before we head down into the Taf Fechan valley to join the Gap Road and forestry tracks back to the car park.

DIRECTIONS TO START

From Crickhowell take the A40 towards Brecon. Go through Bwlch and after 2 miles take left turning to Talybont. At the T junction turn right and go through village turning left just before the end of the village over a bridge over the canal. Continue for 6 miles going past Talybont Reservoir and up the steep hill at the end. The car park is near the top of the hill on your right (it is not the car park that you will pass after 5.5 miles at the bottom of the hill!)
