Initially walking through lovely woodlands along the base of Skirrid past its huge landslip, we then ascend steadily to view the remains of St Michael's chapel and reach the trig point and its fabulous 360 degree views. From the summit we return along the ridge, before dropping down through the woods and back to the car park.        



DIRECTIONS TO START

Take the A40 to Abergavenny. At the first roundabout take the third exit (not Town Centre) and at the next roundabout take the second exit, over the river bridge and then at the Waitrose roundabout take the third exit onto Heads of the Valleys road, A465. At the major junction take the road to Hereford, A465. After 1¾ mile take the right hand turn at a short length of dual carriageway, signposted Skenfrith. The car park is on your left after 1½ miles. This is a NT car park, no charge to members,
