From Hay on Wye car park we cross the Wales/England border at Dulas Brook. We pass Cusop castle mound and visit the village church with the grave of Richard Booth, the self-styled King of Hay and founder of Hay's bookshop tradition. Then we cross fields and ascend gradually to see Mouse Castle motte, now hidden in trees. We follow a path through the wood and descend to quiet roads which lead to Hay in time for lunch at a choice of cafes.
DIRECTIONS TO START
From CRiC take to A40 west then A479 to Talgarth then A 438 to Hay on Wye. Turn Right ot Oxford Road and the car park is on your right. 31 minutes from Crickhowell.
The car park is a public Pay and Display taking cash or card.
