A delightful circular walk in countryside which may have inspired Tolkien to write The Hobbit. We follow the River Usk downstream then walk over to the Grwyne valley by way of Rheld Wood. From the massive chestnut tree we walk beside the Grwyne river through the village of Llangenny, possibly calling at The Dragon Inn for refreshment. We continue along the babbling stream then ascend to a road which takes us to a farmyard (often muddy) then across fields, down Cwm Cumbeth to a housing estate and back to CRiC.
