A strenuous, invigorating and rewarding circular walk around the lower Llanthony valley, rich in history and with spectacular views of the Black Mountains. Visit the magical Llanthony Priory and Cwmyoy's crooked church. View an Iron Age/Roman Fort and hear the bloodthirsty story of the Revenge Stone.
DIRECTIONS TO START
Allow at least 50 minutes from CRiC. From the front of CRiC, take A40 to Abergavenny. Continue on A40 through town to T- junction with traffic-lights, (at Esso garage just past Morrisons). Turn left (Hereford Road) and after 2 miles at another T- junction, turn left onto A465. After 1.8 miles, turn left into Llanvihangel Crucorney. Pass the Skirrid Inn and turn immediately left.
At foot of hill, bear left for Llanthony and follow road for 6 miles to turning on right, signposted to Llanthony Priory. Park in public car park.
