Time: 10:00 to 15:00

The start of the walk will pass WWII tank defences and an observation bunker, (prize for the 1st person to spot it!). We’ll continue through fields up to Twyn Du and climb to the highest point at Carn Pica cairn which marks the site of a Bronze age funeral mound. Continue across Waun Rydd, dropping down to the memorial site of the crew of a Wellington Bomber which served 214 Squadron in 1941. The Bomber was taking part in raids on Hamburg and Rotterdam, and tragically crashed on a training exercise due to poor weather conditions and low cloud. We will take a short climb back up onto Cwar y Gigfran and walk along the ridge to descend to Allt Lwyd and back to the car park.
DIRECTIONS TO START
Take A40 towards Brecon, through Bwlch and turn left to Talybont and right into village. Take first left over canal and follow this road up to the reservoir. The lay-by is 0.5 mile past the dam on your left.
