Alan Bowring, a geologist by background, has been the Geopark officer for the National Park Authority since 2007. His interests extend beyond rocks to encompass the history, toponymy and archaeology of the area, not just Fforest Fawr Geopark but the east of the Park too. A practical conservationist and rights of way officer in former lives the other side of Offa’s Dyke, he may be spotted balsam-bashing or litter-picking when not exploring forgotten corners of this landscape or else introducing others to them!
