Walk 25. Sugar Loaf the Easy Way Up


A gentle ascent of Sugar Loaf with an unfolding panorama of the surrounding countryside. A spiral walk up the Sugar Loaf, not too steep, except at the end. Expect 360 degree views of Black Mts, Usk Valley and Herefordshire and beyond, if the weather is kind. There is a fairly steep descent down the eastern flank. All to be taken at a gentle pace. Ascent 1000ft.

An easy walk and a chance to practise your Welsh. From Crickhowell along the River Usk to Glanusk Bridge. Through the estate and then returning along the canal to Crickhowell.

Walk 88. The Last Hurrah!

Mark the end of the Festival with an easy walk up Table Mountain. A gentle walk along country lanes before a steep climb onto the hills to the top of Table Mt. Look down on Crickhowell and the Usk Valley and then descend quite sharply down to the village for tea and bara brith in the Red Lion. Ascent 1000ft.
